About the artist
Verity has been painting for many years having developed her skills through structured classes and workshops with professional artists.
She is a member of the Fine Art Trade Guild, Guildford Art Society, Ashtead Art Group, Surrey Hills Artists and Cerne Valley Artists. The 2012 winner of the Bacchus award, Verity exhibits regularly in Surrey and Dorset and participates in the Surrey Artists’ Open Studios initiative.
Drawing her inspiration primarily from the more striking images of the natural world, Verity veers towards the semi-abstract and her skies, land and seascapes are soft, fluid and expressive.
Her favourite media are watercolours and acrylic inks – she enjoys their fluidity, transparency and potential for experimentation. Her paintings are uncluttered, with detail reduced to an absolute minimum. Interest is added by using granulating colour mixes and other methods to achieve a variety of textural effects.
Experiments with solar painting - using the natural process of evaporation, often combined with ferns, leaves and shells - are a particular theme at present, on canvas or paper.
Verity is happy to incorporate specific colours into commissioned work to co-ordinate with interior design.
